Passport Requirements

 when visiting border cities of Mexico - see below:
 

Effective 31 Jan 2008, to cross from Mexico to the US by land (tour bus), US or Canada citizens 19 and older, a Valid Passport or Picture ID & birth certificate is required.    Under 19, a Valid Passport or birth certificate is required.

Some other ID's are acceptable.  See http://www.dhs.gov/xtrvlsec/crossingborders/ for further information.

United States Citizens visiting Mexico's Border Cities

US Resident Aliens

- A valid US resident alien card is required to re-enter the US.
 


Canadian Citizens Visiting Mexico Border Cities
and re-entering the US

- Citizens of Canada all generally seem to carry Canadian Passports while in the USA.

Mexican Citizens entering the US

- In general, a citizen of Mexico must have a passport or a non-immigrant visa or Form DSP-150 (also known as a “Laser Visa”).  Form DSP-150 is a biometric, machine readable, B1-B2 visa/Border Crossing Card.


Citizens of other countries visiting the US who re-enter the US
through Mexico Border Cities
